When Your Dream Becomes Your Reality

In February of 2012 I was still teaching in Gauteng when I had a very vivid dream. I woke up and whilst writing it down, I knew that this would be significant in the future.

I dreamt that my mom and I opened a small school in my Dad's backyard. In the dream it grew very quickly and we soon had look for a bigger space.

Fast forward almost 2 years later. I am in the small country of Guatemala, where we were ministering at the time. I was checking my messages at a tiny coffee shop with my backpack on when I got the call from Lynnette whom I've known as Noekie since we met at Service Year for Christ in 2007. She used to be my Service Year Mom/Mentor... It was on this seemingly random call where she shared her heart and vision to open a different kind of school & asked me to pray about being willing to start it along with Estee and herself.

I prayed, and in late November of 2013, I was back in SA and had said yes to the unknown yet again.

And so, just as in the dream of years before, I started a little school in January of 2014 with my previous spiritual mom - in Willem's backyard - Willem, who is one of the spiritual fathers of Global. And... As in the dream, it was not long before we had to move, move and move again as we grew in numbers.

I soon realized that God speaks and that no dream is too small. The Lord's timing is perfect. Obedience is key and that we 'should not dispise the small beginnings.'

This is but a small part in a much bigger story of how a dream became a reality and of how Little Oaks became the Oakridge Academy we know today. May we always be a display of His splendour!
